Cheek filler has the potential to dramatically reduce the signs of ageing or create more structure and definition to the face.
The cheeks are composed of small pockets of fat (fat pads) which are organised into deep and superficial layers. In our younger years, the cheeks are full and high due to plum fat pads which are held tightly together. As we age the fat pads shrink in size and migrate downwards, with supporting structures becoming lax. This results in classical signs of ageing, with the mid-face becoming hollow and sunken. Shadowing forms below the cheekbones creating a tired looking appearance. Filler is used to replenish this loss of volume and revitalise the mid face. Adding volume diminishes the shadowing and reverses this sunken appearance. This has a dramatic effect in rejuvenating the face as light now bounces high off of the cheeks giving a more youthful rejuvenated appearance.
Cheek filler can be artistically layered to create contour and shape to the face. Many people use makeup to contour and highlight their cheekbones. Cheek filler works in a similar way. With just a small amount of filler artistically layered in precise areas, a light reflex can be created which highlights the cheeks and gives them a lifted appearance. Tweaking the cheeks in this way can have a huge aesthetic impact and create jaw-dropping modelesque looks.
The procedure is typically performed with both a needle and a cannula. A dense filler is used to recreate the firmness of the cheekbone. This means you can expect results to last over 18 months.
Filler enhances facial features or reverses the signs of ageing by restoring volume loss. See our client results here, or explore services below.
Filler or dermal filler is a gel-like substance that is composed of Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring structural protein that exists in the soft tissues of your body (such as the skin, the joints and the eyes). Filler can be injected into areas of the face or body to reverse the signs of ageing or enhance a person’s features.
The ageing process involves changes that occur across all layers of the face including the skin, fat ligaments and even bone. As a result, we lose facial volume and structure which leads to areas of hollowing, deep folds, jowls and skin laxity. By injecting HA in appropriate quantities we can restore areas of volume loss, lift areas of laxity and redefine lost contours, leaving you looking more refreshed and rejuvenated.
Filler procedures involve the precise injection of small quantities of HA just beneath the skin. There are different injection techniques depending on which filler treatment you have and the desired effect that is to be achieved. On the whole filler treatments are quick to perform and very tolerable. Local anaesthetic creams or injections can be used to make you more comfortable when treating slightly more sensitive areas, such as the lips or the nose, or if you have a phobia of needles.
A common concern with dermal filler injections is the fear of looking puffy or overfilled. This only occurs when treatments are conducted where there is little or no indication, or when too much filler has been injected. This undesirable outcome is therefore easily avoidable by injecting appropriate quantities of filler in patients that will benefit from treatment. At Carriages, we pride ourselves on natural looking undetectable results, ensuring we keep you looking and feeling like your best self.
Immediately after the procedure, there may be some redness, swelling or very mild bruising at the injection points but this occurs infrequently and will usually settle within 48 hours.
The effect of the filler is immediate so results will be visible straight away. You can expect results to last from 9 to 18 months depending on the area being treated and the density of filler used.
